The Inauguration Ceremony for the World Day of the Sick 2019 took place in the auditorium of St. Xavier's College, Kolkata. The programme was graced by such dignitaries like Cardinal Patrick D'Rozario (envoy of Pope Francis), Cardinal Turkson (Prefect of the Dicastery for Promoting Integral Human Development), Dr. Shashi Panja (Minister of State for Women and child development and social welfare), Archbishop Prakash Mallavarapu (Chairman of CBCI Office of Healthcare), Archbishop Thomas D'Souza of Kolkata, Rev. Monseigneur Fernandes, Sr. Mary Prema (Superior General of Missionaries of Charity), Fr. Dominic Savio (Principal of St. Xavier's College), Rev. Joy Kakkanattu, CMI, Fr. Mathew Thundathil, Mr. Sandeep of KRIPA Foundation, Br. Madhu, Mr. Jacob Chacko, Fr. George Joshua and others. Interactive discussion on various ways of betterment of our society was the order of the day, as per the theme of the event which is “Without cost you have received; without cost you are to give.”
Cardinal Turkson conveyed his thanks to the Archdiocese of Calcutta for agreeing to host the event.
