'Nagaland in Nagerbazar' - Theme of a Kali Puja by Asish Basak

This Diwali, one of the most crowded places of Kolkata, Nagerbazar, will be transformed to NAGALAND, one of the exotic states of North-East India.
BLD Bagan, located a few hundred metres from the busy cross-section of Nagerbazar, will have a brand new look and stunning formation for at least five to six days, during Kali Puja & extended Deepavali celebrations, presented byNaba Yubak Sangha, a popular local club of Behari Lal Dutta Lane.
A  20 ft. high Naga structure, with sharp edges on top & the symbolic slanting roof, will house the powerful Goddess Kali and her various subordinates. (Picture attached.)
Conceptualised by Asish Basak, writer and film-maker, the idea of creating 'Nagaland in Nagerbazar' in Kali Puja is an attempt to make people aware of the culture of our North-Eastern states of India, about which people here have reportedly much less knowledge.  The small lane of BLD Bagan will be decorated with various figurines and artifacts that bear the stamp of Nagaland and its mystic Art & Culture.
"We hope that the glorious concept of 'Unity in Diversity' of our Motherland will be fortified further by re-creating a few glimpses of the rich heritage of Nagaland, about which most of us have very little knowledge," remarked theme-maker Asish Basak.
Amongst various cultural programs to be held in the open-road stage during 5th to 8th Nov., the focus will be on afashion show with Naga costumes and also on folk music of Nagaland, to be presented by artists of 'Hello Kolkata', the Theme Partner of this Kali Puja.
Sri Baidyanath MitraPresident of Naba Yubak Sangha, along with a host of enthusiastic young members, hoped that this year's celebrations will be an unforgettable occasion for all of them.
